Dulwich Hill Public School
'Dully Kids' are ordinary kids in a multicultural suburb of Sydney. But they have seen, in music performance, a way of connecting to a more powerful vision of themselves.
More than half the school community is involved in one of three choirs, two recorder ensembles, a training band and the school band. There are also string and brass ensembles. A subset of the school band also links with a local High school and community band for additional rehearsal and performance.
The School P&C provides significant financial support to fund equal access to the music program. Many Dully students return to do voluntary tuition, or participate in special community concerts. And even our teachers are Dully-ites... former parents who started the program as volunteers and keep this extensive program humming.
The School also regularly performs annually at local Nursing Homes. Ex-Dully students have even been credited as the impetus for the implementation or revitalisation of choirs and bands at neighbouring Leichhardt High and Dulwich Hill High.
